After pick-up in Catania and transfer to Syracuse, your tour will begin with a visit to the Archaeological Park of Neapolis.
This extraordinary area hosts most of the monuments from Syracuse's Greek and Roman eras. It is the most emblematic zone of the ancient Greek city, featuring lush greenery and a pathway following the ancient Roman road that leads to the main archaeological landmarks. You'll explore the Greek Theatre, still used today for classical performances, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomia del Paradiso with the famous Ear of Dionysius and the Grotta dei Cordari, the Altar of Hiero, and the Church of San Nicolò ai Cordari.
Next, you'll continue to Ortigia, the very soul of Syracuse. A stroll through Ortigia reveals a mesmerizing blend of Greek temples and Christian churches, Swabian, Aragonese, and Baroque palaces, courtyards, narrow Arab streets, quaint workshops, modest homes, and charming squares. Highlights include the stunning Arethusa Fountain and the magnificent Baroque Piazza Duomo, framed by elegant noble palaces.
After lunch (not included in the price), the tour will continue with a visit to Noto, an absolute gem of Sicilian Baroque and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Noto is an open-air museum, where walking along the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, will be a remarkable experience. You'll marvel at the many exquisite palaces and churches that give Noto its well-earned nickname, the "Stone Garden.
