Taormina and Castelmola – Cruise passenger

Chosing this tour with the departure from the Port of Catania, you will visit the ancient seaside village of Giardini Naxos, first greek colony in Sicily founded in 734 b.C.. After a ride along the ionian coast, admiring the beautiful coast of Naxos, you can have a little stop at “Isola Bella”, a Natural Reserve considered as “the pearl of the Ionian sea” for its wild beauty, connected to the mainland with a little strip of sand.

From here, it will be possible to admire the gorgeous bay protected by the cliffs of Capo S. Andrea and Capo Taormina.

 

Later you will go to Castelmola, here walking along the characteristic streets of the little town, you will visit the ancient ruins of the powerful norman walls, the Duomo square with the main Church rebuilt between 1934 and 1935 on the pre-existing cathedral and dedicated to Saint Nicola of Bari, everything will be done by walink along the characteristic little streets of the village.

 

The last part of the tour will be dedicated to the visit of the pintoresque Taormina.

The main street of the village, Corso Umperto, is closed at the beginning and at the end by Porta Messina and Porta Catania. During the walk along the street, you will admire the most important monuments: Palazzo Corvaja (Museum of art and popular traditions*); Ancient Theater*; IX April square; Clock tower; the Cathedral (Duomo); Badia Vecchia; Palazzo Duca di Santo Stefano and much more. It will be possible to do some shopping in the exclusive stores or handicraft shops of the town.
